Why is being a locally owned business important?
We are part of your community. My IC's and I live in your neighborhoods. Supporting local business keeps the commerce flowing locally. (I love getting to say Hi to clients at the local FoodLion.) We aren't traveling 30 miles to come see your pets. "It's just your traveling expenses." True, until there is a hurricane, or snow, or ice. We have never failed to care for pets due to extreme weather. We have continued service during all types of nasty weather. During a particularly bad snow and ice storm, a client was stranded and could not make it home. Though the conditions here were poor as well, we cared for her pets until she could make it back. That would have been much more difficult from 30 miles away...
I can't find your forms on your website. Where are they?
Don't worry, you didn't overlook the forms. They aren't here! It is very important that our forms are filled out completely and in a very detailed manner. That helps us care for your pets in the best manner possible. Due to this, we go over all of our forms together at the Initial Consult.
What is an Initial Consult?
The Initial Consult is your chance to meet me, my chance to meet your pets, and a time for us to complete the necessary paperwork. The Initial Consult is free to you, but must occur before we can make any pet sitting visits to your home. I try to be as flexible as possible when scheduling Initial Consults. The farther out from the start of service the more flexible we can be.
What is an I.C.?
An IC is an Independent Contractor. I use Independent Contractors instead of having employees. There is no way we could offer the outstanding care we do if I did not have IC's to help me. Presently I have 3 IC's that work for me. All are experienced with pets and have a great love for animals. All IC's are backgrounded and personally vetted.
Are you licensed and bonded?
Presently, the state of North Carolina does not require pet sitters to have a business license. I know, I know, it sounds odd to me too. But I keep checking and being told I don't have to get one. Some towns require them but my primary zip code does not. Bonding refers to protection for theft. We are insured for theft instead of bonded. As I like to say,"You have lovely things... We don't want them." But as a prudent business owner, I have to have the proper business insurance including theft insurance.
Will you care for "Bully Breed" dogs?
Oh, you mean those horribly vicious Pitbulls, Rottweilers and German Shepards?? Of course we will care for your bigger babies!! I personally have 2 Rottweilers. We have cared for a number of Pitbulls and every one has been a joy to be around. We do not discriminate against any particular breed.
